Description
This is the kit I wish I’d had the first time I set up a Water Buffet. Four buckets and a travel pouch of every flavor, with enough of each that you’re not rationing. You get to actually play: try a flavor in the water, then in the feed, then in a treat, and see where your horse lights up.
What’s in the box
- 12 travel pouches, one of every Improve Equine Options flavor: Root Revival, Carrot Cool Down, Golden Gulp, Basic Batch, Caked Up Carrot, As American As, Ready Roadie, Nanner Beets, It’s So Very, Soul Soup, Gourd Vibes Only, and Mint Condition.
- 8 servings per pouch, 96 servings in all. One tablespoon per 2 gallons of water.
- 4 Fortiflex 2-gallon flatback buckets, each with an Improve Equine label, sized so one tablespoon is one bucket.
Start with a Water Buffet
- Keep plain water out. The buffet sits next to it, never in place of it.
- Set out one to four flavors. Fill each bucket with 2 gallons of water and add a tablespoon.
- Watch which buckets go down first. That’s your horse telling you what they like.
- Rotate in new flavors over the next week or two. Horses are cautious about new smells, so give each flavor a couple of tries before you rule it out.
Then play with the rest
With 8 servings of every flavor, you have plenty left to try them other ways:
- Barn aisle buffet — on a hot, busy day, line all four buckets down the aisle and let the barn horses stop for a drink on the way by.
- The picky eater — sprinkle a tablespoon over feed for the horse who noses through the bucket and walks away.
- Oral meds — mix a strong flavor (Soul Soup and Mint Condition are good starts) into powdered medication to make it more palatable.
- Treats — use a flavor as the base for homemade horse treats, or freeze some into a slushy or spread it on a lick mat.
Most horses end up with more than one favorite. This kit is how you find out which ones, and all the ways your horse likes them.
Your horse picks the flavor. You decide the use.
Improve Equine Options is a whole food powder made from fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices to encourage hydration and make feed and oral medications more appealing to horses.
- No added sugar, no added salt, no electrolytes, no copper
- Under 35 calories per serving
- Safe for metabolic and Cushing’s horses
- Made in Land O’ Lakes, Florida
Prefer single herbs instead of blends?
If you want the traditional European approach, single botanicals and nothing blended, see the Apothecary Water Buffet Kit — The Purist’s Box. Same idea, different philosophy. Plenty of people run both.
Introduce any new feed ingredient gradually. If your horse is under veterinary care, check with your vet before changing their diet.
